Although I don’t always agree with my children, in this case I couldn’t agree more.
The point here is that if he can “get” it then any of us can too.
Here is the text.
My name’s Carnegie Johnson, and I’m Carne-, and I’m 4 years old, and I really like basketball and I like to play football. And I like to get stuff for, from Christmas.

I saw Joe Biden. Obama. Obama’s kids, Obama’s wife. And, I saw everything!
Who do you think people should vote for this year?
Obama-Biden. Obama and Biden.
Why?
Because they’re so good! And, guess what? Do you know why McCain is losing?
Tell me.
Because he’s beating his self up.
He’s beating himself up?
Yeah.
Why do you think Obama-Biden are so good?
Because they’re not doing anything to, to McCain. But just, leave McCain alone. Forget about McCain. And, leave him alone.

First, when I was a baby, I was voting for McCain. Then, when I was a little bit grown, and I was voting for Hillary. But now, I’m voting for Obama.

And, the reason why I like Obama … and Joe Biden, ’cause they’re so good that they’re not even doing … anything to McCain. They just wanna fight until the end, to win. But, whoever wins … like, if, if um, if Oba--, if McCain wins then … that’s it!

War is bad ’cause you die, and you can never have another life. ‘Cause there’s only, you can’t a new life. You can’t get a new you. But you can get new toys! ‘Cause there’s always toys!

And the war, like, when people die, it’s not cool.

I want Obama to win ’cause he’s good! And he’s a good president. And he’s my … he’s American. And he … is your friend, my friend, Cory’s friend, Mommy’s friend, Cassius’ friend, and every American’s friend. Like a patriot.

Obama’s family is his wife. And, he likes his family ’cause they are also gonna try and beat … McCain up. But really they’re not ’cause … he’s beating his self up. Self up. And really because why he did, why Obam-, why McCain is beating his self up, it’s because he wants to win.
Are there people that have different colors in America?
Yeah. Purple, green, orange, red, white, black, blue … or silver, or gold … or something. Or some color. Or brown. Some color.

But he’s not gonna be a perfect president. But he’s gonna be a good president!

Very cute! I wonder where it gets his thoughtful, rational answers. :-) You could see him thinking and he did a good job telling us why he liked Obama.
I loved how his thinking evolved from a “baby” liking McCain, to a little bit grown, liking Clinton, and now that he’s four he’s voting for Obama/Biden. Decision made!
Guess he represents 4 yr olds (and a lot of other Americans) around the country. Go Carnegie! Future analyst in the making.

I love it. This is where it starts. My grandson it participating in the election for President today at his school. As I stood in his bedroom door and watched him put on his Obama shirt tears came to my eyes. I only wish my parents and grandparents where here to see their grandchilden engaged in this historic event. Pray for Obama-Biden and GO VOTE. Don’t worry about the long lines, turn it into the HISTORIC EVENT THAT THIS IS. Bring water, coffee and snacks for the crowd. Offer senior citizens a seat. Offer to babysit for others after you vote. Work the polls. Bring music and wait for history to occur.

Hi Claude,
Your cute son Carnegie shows us, (as parents and adults) how much our children do pick up from us as parents and adults. And of course from the world around them.
I think we should be aware of this all the time and mind what we want our children to copy from us. We do influence them more than we maybe realise.
It is amazing how good he can speak his thoughts on this subject at this age.
Awesome! He is amazing and cute.
What I like the most is that in the midst of all his political opinions he keeps reminding us that “toys” are very important to him as a 4 year old.

This is too cute and show signs of a deep thinker for one so young. And to think that I thought my 9 year old grandson and his classmates got it right. I must also mention that the McCain-Palin support was split by gender with the boys supporting Obama-Biden and the girls for MCCain-Palin. THe girls spoke moire of Sarah Palin did they did of McCain. Another surprising note is that while the boys are into war-kick butt kinds of video games, they really want the war to end. I guess because we were studying about Veterans, with the holiday in one week and three of the students sharing that they have fathers or uncles who are on active duty.
