Could this be a new poll?

My kids say they have a feeling Obama is going to win because most of the kids on their bus are “for Obama.”

They are ages 9, 7, and 4.

As we drive around, where we live, in Greenwich, Connecticut, they see the various lawn signs all over the place, for national, state, and local political offices.

The most prominent are those that say “Himes” and those that say “Shays.”

They’ve been asking me questions like, “Who is Himes?  Is he for Obama?  Who is Shays? Who’s he for?”

I say this because it’s relevant in terms of the tight local Congressional race between Jim Himes (D) and Chris Shays (R).

Himes is poised to upset Shays, who’s been a member of the House of Representatives for 21 years.

The sentiments of my kids are echoed in this Huffington Post article: Bridgeport and Greenwich Could Thwart New England’s Chance to Maintain Lone Republican Seat.

Here’s a quote:

Mike Brown, a 36-year-old barber and first-time voter, says he will select all the Democrats listed on the ballot. But when asked about the Congressional race, he responded, “To be honest with you, I don’t even know who Himes is. I just like Obama. I’m not into politics.”

Cool.

I think the schoolbus poll is accurate.

Did you see all the signs this morning around Greenwich supporting Obama? Wow, when I went into town this morning and I saw them I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. There is also a HUGE one on Round Hill road, I guess we have more Obama supporters in Greenwich than I thought.

I keep saying there’s a “New Silent Majority” here. That Huff Post article shows it, and so do those signs you saw. I’ll have to drive around! Thanks!
