Well, I think its a combination of all that you suggested. However, I would say the website, the message and the products are the most important.

Website - because as everything goes digital, most people find out/hear about a brand from friends/family etc and can do a quick search and learn more about B5 online.
The message - is very important because of the rich history, contribution of black people to america and this is a cool, but relevant way to educate the young people. Sports and Nike are a integral part of the black community, great way to build/educate younger people about the B5 history.

The product - ties the first two together because its a tangible good and reflects us, culture, history as so forth. Furthermore, the product tells the story/message to the masses. They can feel like they're apart of history.

It's for:

Sports enthusiasts
Hip-Hop heads
Sneaker heads
Historians
Professors of black studies

As for your audience I think it falls in-line with those interested in negro league baseball, sports, basketball and I think males of all ages would be interested.

Got a couple more email replies that I'd like to share that came in after the post:

<blockquote>
The website and the blog are all important to communicating the message of your work, which is represented by the product. So for me, each one has its own important role to play. Different aspects of Black Fives would be important to different people for different reasons. I would imagine that black and white youth would be interested in the product and how they can make it represent what it means to be cool at this moment in their lives. They also might be the most likely to blog (--something I have never done, but which is common for my students. When I write on your blog, it will be my first experience!). I also think that certain academics, including historians, American culture scholars and anthropologists would be interested especially in the "message" of Black Fives. They may or may not buy the product, but they will be interested in the fascinating story behind the product. I also think that older black men or people interested in sports will appreciate the product and the story because it will help them delve further into an interest of theirs or it may remind them of times past. All of these people --except for the ones less likely to make great use of the internet (like some of the older black men) will be able to make use of the Black Fives website. Now, as to who "should" Black Fives be for, that for me is a political question. But why would you want to try and decide that? Or was that more of a 'who are we missing?/who have we not reached out to that might be interested?' kind of question?
</blockquote>

Keep it going, other kids will come to your web site and see where we haven been and where we as a people in a nation where we are the minority and keep it moving for the future. So hats off to you and everyone at Blackfive and I hope this year is an outstanding year for you!

I appreciate the knowledge meant!
